Under the lead of director Martin Nee, the HDR | City Point Partners Public Outreach team is supporting many high-profile projects including:

South Coast Rail (MBTA), in progress since 2019, this project is expected to provide long-awaited Commuter Rail Service to southeastern Massachusetts starting this year. Our team has maintained the project website, distributed project email updates to constituents, and distributed informational flyers.

North Station Draw One (MBTA), this bridge, which carries northbound Commuter Rail and Amtrak service over the Charles River basin, will be replaced with three new bridges that will improve service flow and allow for the use of two additional platforms increasing capacity at North Station. Our team developed a public participation plan incorporating environmental justice communities and a project website, and have led legislative briefings.

Sumner Tunnel (MassDOT), which brings vehicles from East Boston to the North End, has had closures for up to two months at a time over the past two years to allow for repairs to its walls, deck, and ceiling. We assisted MassDOT’s outreach efforts by distributing materials and participating in pop-up informational tables in affected communities to inform commuters about the tunnel closure and help them plan ahead.

Dorchester Avenue Bridge (MBTA), connecting Andrew Square in South Boston with Dorchester, is being completely replaced. With street outages and construction activities impacting traffic patterns as well as noise and dust concerns, our team has been very busy interfacing with the project’s general contractor to gather schedule updates, and with local civic leaders to communicate construction activities that may impact constituents. The bridge will be complete and ready for traffic in 2024.
