Public Outreach Specialist

We are looking to hire a full time Public Outreach Specialist to join our team and help support communications and stakeholder engagement activities across a range of local and regional construction projects.

Essential Job Duties

Provide the highest quality of services to our clients in public and private construction:

  • Research and develop detailed public involvement plans, stakeholder engagement plans, and public outreach strategy documents while ensuring compliance with state and federal Environmental Justice policy
  • Develop marketing, design, and communication materials on behalf of clients
  • Organize and host virtual events with a large group of people with Zoom, Teams, or similar virtual platform
  • Facilitate public meetings (in-person and virtual)
  • Perform content development, editorial review, and final production of communication materials
  • Social media management, content development, and strategy
  • Assist with proposal writing and business development
  • Participate in project planning and scheduling
  • Attend client and team meetings, issue agendas and minutes
  • Develop and maintain detailed stakeholder contact databases
  • Provide support to clients and other team members and help meet deadlines for internal and external deliverables

Required Skills

  • Well-versed in content planning and creative communication strategies
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Event scheduling experience, with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Familiar with virtual meeting platforms (i.e. Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
  • Social media savvy and familiar with social media marketing tools
  • Ability to build strategic customer relationships and ensure client satisfaction
  • Ability to coordinate and work in concert with clients, team members, other contractors and consultants
  • Ability to problem-solve, prioritize deliverables, maintain schedules, and flexibility to adapt to last-minute changes and issues

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience in communications, public relations, legislative affairs, public or private construction project administration
  • Knowledge of local, State, and Federal public engagement policies and protocols, the MA State Open Meeting Law, Environmental Justice populations, accessibility requirements, and knowledge of municipal and state agencies are preferred
  • Languages, and prior experience in road, bridge, transportation, rail, or construction industries are a plus

Quality Manager

Quality Manager

We are seeking to fill a full-time Quality Manager position to oversee a major rail/transit program in Boston, MA, composed of three major design/build projects.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop and manage the implementation of the overall quality program
  • Acts as owner liaison to interpret and assure that constructors are generally complying with the requirements set forth in contract drawings and specifications, along with appropriate regulatory agencies such as the Federal Transit Authority
  • Review constructors’ quality plans, policies and procedures, and making recommendations for revision if necessary to improve overall effectiveness of the program.
  • Assist in facilitating and attending regularly scheduled audits for constructors’ quality management systems and field/shop activities
  • Interface with the assigned project inspectors on a regular basis to help ensure appropriate inspections and audits are being performed

Qualifications

  • 15 years of relevant inspection, auditing, and management experience.
  • Applied knowledge of the accepted requirements for track and signal construction, along with quality management guidelines, such as ASQ or CQA
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or combination of education, experience and relevant certifications such as ASQ or CQA
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on familiarity with FTA Guidelines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of e-Builder®

Project Controls Specialist

We are seeking to hire a full-time Project Controls Specialist to join our team of cost estimators and schedulers, working from a project office in Boston, MA.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform quantity takeoffs on drawings using on-screen methods and quantity reports
  • Review and develop estimates, change orders, and time impact determinations for heavy civil and vertical projects including railroads, bridges, highways, industrial buildings and laboratories
  • Perform order of magnitude, schematic and detailed bottom-up estimates
  • Build detailed engineering cost reports, change notices, and other cost control tools
  • Analyze and validate estimates and schedules performed by others
  • Develop full CPM schedule logic for construction projects including milestones, procurement, construction and closeout activities
  • Lead or assist in the development of program/project resource and cost loaded schedules for design, procurement, start-up, construction, and closeout
  • Analyze contractor critical path updates and construction data, and evaluate schedule options
  • Assist with development and maintenance of scheduling work breakdown structure (WBS)
  • Assist with coordination, reconciliation and integration of functional schedules to maintain the project/program control schedule
  • Create narrative executive reports and detail reports for estimate and schedule deliverables conform to clients’ expectations and industry standards

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience in construction
  • Experience in estimating, budgeting, controls, and scheduling on capital projects

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to understand plans and specifications for developing estimates and schedules
  • Knowledge of CSI work breakdown and division structures, including Uniformat and MasterFormat
  • Experience with cost estimating tools such as RS Means, Sage Estimating, On-Screen-Takeoff, and Bluebeam
  • Knowledge of Excel as a tool for calculations and formatting of technical reports
  • Demonstrated hands-on scheduling experience and working knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6 and MS Project
  • Knowledge of field construction assemblies, sequencing, and duration of work
  • Ability to develop construction schedules and incorporate changes to schedule baselines and updates
  • Knowledge of earned value analysis, change value management, and estimate at completion projections
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to provide a high quality of service to clients and maintaining client satisfaction
