Project Description

Over 2016 and 2017, MassDOT achieved its goal of converting all 21 toll plazas on the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) to an All Electronic Tolling System (AETS), removing all remaining toll booths and administration buildings, and reconfiguring the toll plazas for smoother travel. The conversion eliminated delays associated with cash tolls, improved the efficiency of tolling maintenance and operations, increased vehicle safety at toll locations, and resulted in cleaner air in neighborhoods surrounding toll plazas. This complex project involved four MassDOT districts and engaged four contractors to complete construction.

City Point Partners provided cost estimating and scheduling for demolishing and realigning all 21 toll plaza locations on I-90.

Project Description

The MBTA improved the Fitchburg Commuter Rail Line in order to increase the quality of service for the approximately 10,000 daily commuters who travel this 50-mile long corridor from Fitchburg to Boston. City Point Partners served as the municipal liaison and project controls specialist. We liaised with 27 impacted communities along the Fitchburg line including boards of selectmen and departments of public works. Additionally, we provided public safety training to municipalities and first responders as well issued construction and service advisories, detour information and legislative briefings and press releases. As project controls specialist, we provided master schedule oversight, contractor time determination schedules, change order cost analysis, Independent Cost Estimates (ICE) and contractor schedule reviews.

Project Description

Connect Historic Boston (CHB) was a complex project involving multiple design firms and miles of city streets. The CHB project reconstructed four historic areas of Boston as shared or Complete Streets to improve access between transit and National Park Service sites. A 2013 TIGER Grant recipient, the CHB project provides improved alternative transportation access and includes a bike trail around downtown Boston. City Point Partners implemented a Project Controls Plan for the entire CHB construction project tracking cost estimates against actual financial commitment and expenditures. We also performed detailed budget analyses for the project reconciling cost variances and developing a conceptual cash flow based on approved budget.

Project Description

MassDOT’s original materials testing laboratory was located in South Boston. The facility served MassDOT well over time but it became apparent that in order to keep pace with the research and planning needs of MassDOT, that significant building upgrades needed to take place. Rather than renovate the South Boston location, it was determined that centrally locating a new laboratory in Hopkinton would better serve the Commonwealth. City Point Partners was brought on to manage the construction of the new 2-story, 49,000 sf laboratory. The project is seeking LEED Silver Certification and constructed using the CM@Risk delivery method.
