PROJECT DESCRIPTION

A key transportation hub for the City of Lynn and the MBTA bus system, the Lynn Commuter Rail Station is undergoing an improvement program. The station requires significant structural repairs and upgrades including platform, track, and accessibility improvements with upgrades to stairs, elevators, and canopies, as well as improvements to pedestrian circulation and wayfinding. These upgrades will improve the function, level of service, and safety at the station, while making the station fully accessible. City Point Partners is providing cost estimating, scheduling and public outreach services during both design and construction phases including a full station closure.

Project Description

This new bus maintenance facility in Quincy is replacing the MBTA’s existing bus maintenance facility, the oldest in the MBTA system.

The existing facility lacked the technology and space to support the new Battery Electric Buses (BEB’s) that the MBTA is instituting to lessen the environmental impact. The new facility will be 350,000 sf and consist of four interconnected structures for the storage and maintenance of 120 buses with 11 service/maintenance bays, and offices. Specialty MEP and building communications systems infrastructure are required, as well as unique building equipment and restrooms, locker rooms, and vertical transportation.

During the design phase, HDR | City Point Partners provided cost estimating, scheduling, and public outreach services. During the construction phase, we are reviewing the contractor’s monthly schedule updates and coordinating and scheduling the testing and commissioning activities as an on-site office engineer.

Project Description

City Point Partners is providing cost estimating and public outreach support during the design and construction for the replacement of this bridge built in 1925 which spans existing MBTA tracks including the Red Line, commuter rail, and freight rail service. The Dorchester Avenue bridge, with heavy vehicular traffic, is a very congested site, requiring full bridge closure and detour. All rail services must remain operational during construction and the Von Hillern Street retaining wall also needs to be protected and supported during construction. Additionally, the project will add a commuter rail track serving the Old Colony line.
